The offline RPGs we actually finished
There are hundreds of mobile RPGs, but very few that both work offline and are worth finishing. We dug through our play history and pulled out the ones we actually saw the credits on.
Ember of the Last Kingdom tops the list for us. Its turn-based battles reward thinking, and the story earns its length. The mid-dungeon saving is the kind of small thing that makes a game feel built for phones rather than ported to them.
A good offline RPG needs three things: a save system you can trust, battles that work in short bursts, and a story that doesn't fall apart if you put it down for a week. Everything here clears that bar.
If you're new to the genre on mobile, start with a turn-based one. Real-time combat on a touchscreen can get fiddly, and turn-based gives you room to breathe on a crowded train.
