Ember of the Last Kingdom
★★★★★ 4.7
Ember of the Last Kingdom is the kind of RPG you can sink a whole weekend into without ever touching your data plan. You lead a small band of survivors across a broken kingdom, recruiting companions, upgrading gear and fighting turn-based battles that reward planning over reflexes. The story has real weight to it and a couple of choices genuinely changed how later chapters played out for us.
Combat is where it shines. Positioning matters, elements counter each other, and bosses force you to rethink your party build. We liked that you can save mid-dungeon, so it respects the fact that mobile play happens in fragments.
The only downside is a slightly slow opening hour. Push past it and the game opens up into something surprisingly generous.
What we liked
- Deep turn-based combat with party building
- Fully offline, including saves
- Choices that actually affect the story
